Cycosports Race Rules

The Cycosports events, in "broad terms", follow the UCI (International Cycling Union) rules and regulations.

Particular Race Rules Cycosports Adheres to:

  • You must wear a safety approved helmet at all times
  • Road races / ITT / TTT must use a UCI compliant road bike unless otherwise stated
  • No TT Extensions unless an individual (TT) or team time trial (TTT)
  • No bottle cages/bottles behind the rear seat unless a TT / TTT
  • Sleeved Jersey unless otherwise stated
  • The Organisers reserve the right to:
    • limit or refuse entries of participants.
    • allocate participants to the race category they see fit.
    • retire any participant they deem physically incapable of continuing the race.
    • amend the race Rules and Regulations without prior notification.
    • amend the race course with prior notice to participants.
  • In the event of weather that may endanger participants, the Organisers reserve the right to delay the start or shorten the race.
  • If such weather persists after the delay, the Organisers reserve the right to cancel the race without any refund of registration fees.


Race Entry

  • For open races participants must be 18 years old to take part in the event, unless otherwise agreed with Cycosports management.
  • For age group races participants must be within the age boundaries unless agreed by Cycosports management.
  • Entries will as specified on the website or sooner if all allocated slots for a category are filled.
  • The Organisers will not be responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete and/or incorrect entry details given by the participants.
  • Changes to participants’ race category are permitted if slots allow. An admin fee of S$30 will apply per change.
  • Race entries are transferable on written request one week before the event. An admin fee of S$30 will apply per change.
  • Once the registration form has been processed, there will be no fee refund for the participants who, for whatever reason, do not take part in the race.


Equipment

  • It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure their bicycles are in good working condition and safe for use in a mass participation cycling event.
  • The organiser reserves the right to refuse participants with bicycles that are considered unsafe for the event.
  • Only conventional road bikes are allowed in the competitive categories as per UCI technical regulations
  • Triathlon handlebars, aerobars, bar extensions and bull horns are not allowed unless a TT/TTT
  • We strongly advise participants to use wheels that have passed a rupture test and approved by UCI’s
  • Bottle cage holders behind the seat are not allowed unless a TT/TTT
  • Participants must wear a securely fastened cycling helmet for the duration of the entire race/ride
  • Aero-helmets are not allowed unless a TT/TTT
  • Jerseys worn in the event must cover the shoulders for the competitive categories. Sleeveless cycling jerseys are not allowed unless a TT/TTT


Participant Obligations

  • Participants must read the race briefing provided before the race
  • Participants must keep to the left side of the road and observe traffic rules at all time
  • Participants must ensure that their competition numbers are clearly visible at all times
  • Wearing headphones is not allowed at any time
  • Private (support) vehicles are not allowed


Participant Insurance

  • Each participant is responsible for their own health, accident and damages insurance


Race Appeals

  • Any appeals regarding race activities or results placings must be made within 30 minutes of the provisional results being published.
  • An appeal fee of $100 is chargable for any individual who wishes to make an appeal in writing (form will be provided).
