Volunteers and Sponsors

While the roads are closed during this time, there are many pedestrians around the area. We will be asking for the support of the larger cycling community to assist.

We hope the Singapore cycling community will come down and support / cheer on their fellow riders. It's only through showing that we have a vibrant and sharing cycling scene, will more opportunities come to the competitive cycling scene.

Getting There

The easiest way to get to the race venure is via Mountbatten Road (Nicoll Entrance will be closed from 6am).

Sportshub Layout

The Course

It's a stretch of road known by many cyclists already. The 1.1km "hotdog" circuit is on a smooth 2 lane road, featuring a tight, but managable turn at round about one and a sweeping turn around round-about two at the other end. The Start / Finish will be placed "exactly in the middle of the course.

Prize Giving & Points

URA Prize Giving

Prize Giving timing is yet to be confirmed. The aim will be to complete prize givings after each category finishes.

There will be top 3 podium medals for each race.

For the June 16 event there will be no points awarded as the "short notice" to the community means that it can't be added to the 2019 Points Classification.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Please check through the frequently asked questions below. If you can't find the answer you're most welcome to drop us a question here.

Q: Why the change to Grade Races in 2019?

A: Grade racing "evens up" the field so that like skilled / strengthed riders race together, regardless of age and gender. The idea is to provide more competitive and safer racing for all.

Q: Why do i have to have a UCI / SCF license for A,B,C and D Grades?

A: These races carry 2019 National Series Points and all licensed riders will be given a grade (so that they can race).

Q: I understand E Grade does not need a license - only Race Insurance?

A: Yes that's correct. You can still purchase an annual license from SCF if you are E Grade and intending to win and move up to the higher grades.

Q: Where can I get a SCF Annual License from?

A: You can purchase the SCF Annual License and insurance from the Singapore Cycling Federation website.

Q: Can I register on the day?

A: No - You must register on the website and registration will be closing a few days before the event. Pickup of the chip / race pack will be at the event itself 30 minutes before the race starts.

Q: Can I cancel my booking once entered?

A: No, once paid, your entry is confirmed. Cycosports has the right to transfer an entry (bib number) to another rider if the original participant is a "no-show" on the day. There will be no refund for "no shows".

Q: How can I warm up before my race?

A: Please use surrounding roads (non-circuit) and take caution and ensure you are back in time for your start time.

Q: Are Disk Brake Bikes allowed in these Races?

A: Yes.

Q: Do you have medics on hand in case of emergency?

A: Yes we have a full medical team (1 Ambulance) stationed at the event.

Q: I'd like to help out (volunteer) on the day - is that possible?

A:Absolutely - we always need help running these events. Please drop us a message here.

Pursuit Format

Four Person Team Pursuit

The pursuit event is aimed at simulating a 4 person track pursuit of 4000m.

In this case it will be four (4) laps of the course which is approximately 4400m. Riders can be any age and gender. Time Trial bikes, aero helmets and wheels are allowed, however due to the nature of the course, the advantages are debatable.

Each team will consist of 4 riders on the track with the finishing time of the team recorded based on the 3rd rider across the line. Each team is allowed to have a 5th team member who can act as a subsitute if required*.

* The timing chip is shared between the replacement and subsitute rider. Please inform Cycosports of the change before each race.

12 Teams - Seeding

The event will start with a seeding round where each team will be randomly placed with another team. The seeding will be based on fastest times with the 3rd rider across the line counting for the team's time.

8 Teams - Round 1

The fastest 4 teams from seeding will be able to sit out round 1 which will see the slowest 8 teams racing for 4 positions in the quarters.

8 Teams - Quarters

The fastest 4 teams from seeding will be matched against the fastest 4 teams from Round 1

4 Teams - Semi's

The fastest 4 teams quarters will then via for places in the finals.

4 Teams - Finals

The same 4 teams from the Semi's will be in the 3rd/4th Final and the 1st/2nd Final to determine the overall podium positions.

Criterium Races

Your details will take a few days to be listed from your order as the list shown here is from the timing system and must be cleaned and imported

Volunteers

We Need You!

Volunteer Marshal

The Criteriums always require volunteers to ensure the intersections on the course are safe. While the roads are closed, the circuit is "porous" with joggers and pedestrians  potentially walking across the circuit.

To ensure members of the public and riders are all kept safe, volunteer marshals are needed and deployed on every intersection.

Volunteering gives you a first class seat to the morning's action as well as earning yourself (if not racing) or a friend valuable volunteer points for the season.
