Crit Racing Returns in July

More fast paced action to end an exciting month of racing.

Comes join the action or simply volunteer or support - a great morning of racing awaits.

The 1.7km Cecil / Robinson Road circuit will see exciting criterium races from 6:00am to 7:30am with a half hour public transition to the opening of the official opening of the circuit at 8:00am. Each event, we try to provide a racing format for various sections of the racing / cycling community.

Volunteers and Sponsors

While the roads are closed during this time, there are many pedestrians around the area. Because of the large number of intersections, we will be asking for the support of the larger cycling community to assist.

While the event is early, the streets are well lighted, so we hope the Singapore cycling community will come down and support / cheer on their fellow riders. It's only through showing that we have a vibrant and sharing cycling scene, will more opportunities come to the competitive cycling scene.

URA Car Free Sunday Share the Road Criterium Series

Sunday, 29 July 2018 – 5:30am – 8:30am

Race Chip Numbers: http://my.raceresult.com/103768/

Kick pickup will be on race day. Please come down early enough to pickup your kit and get ready.

Before the Race:

  • Place your race bib number on the left back pocket of your cycling jersey
  • Place your bike sticker on your seatpost
  • Place your timing chip on either the left / right fork as low as possible (with cable ties)

  • Tri Bikes / Tri Bars are not allowed. Bottle cages behind the seat are not allowed
  • Bike cameras can be mounted to the bike (no protruding) but are not allowed on helmets
  • You can bring spare wheels and hold these at the Crit Mechanic Area
  • Please come prepared as there is limited mechanical support

  • When crossing intersections please obey the Police / Marshals at all times
  • There will be a bag drop off area for participants. Please use the bag tag provided.
  • Please be ready for your race at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start

The races will follow the core UCI rules for criteriums. Please note the following:

  • YELLOW FLAGS are used to highlight an obstacle ahead or a crash. Please race as normal but be aware of the warning and exercise caution
  • RED FLAGS are used to neutralise a race (either to 20km per hour) or if instructed by the Marshal, riders should stop completely. Race can be neutralised for the following types of reasons:
    • Severe crash (early in the race) that impedes a majority of riders
    • Request by the Police / Lightning Warning where safety of the rider is compromised
  • Please Obey the Police and Marshals at all times
  • The estimated number of laps for each race is published, however the final lap count will be based on average speed of the first lap and calculated out.
  • The last 5 Laps will be counted down with the “1” sign accompanied by a Bell.
  • For this race there will be no sprint laps. We hope to introduce these into future races.

  • As these are short Crits of 10 laps or less, there is no free lap rule. If you suffer a mechanical or puncture there is not enough time to get back on before the race concludes.

  • The Marshals may ask you to pull over and take you out of the race if you have been lapped or are about to be lapped, especially if there is a large peloton bearing down on you.
  • In some cases where the field is small, or strung out, you maybe allowed to stay in the race. In these cases please ensure you keep well to the left and do not interfere / “hang on” to riders who are a lap up. Be fair and let them ride their own race.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please check through the frequently asked questions below. If you can't find the answer you're most welcome to drop us a question here.

Q: Why for some races you are offering entry first to SCF Annual Licence Members?

A: If the race carries National Series Points, then we first need to offer slots to those competing in the annual series. In some cases, slots are limited for safety, so we encourage participants to sign up early and avoid disappointment.

Q: Can I register on the day?

A: No - You must register on the website and registration will be closing a few days before the event. Pickup of the chip / race pack will be at the event itself 30 minutes before the race starts.

Q: Do I need an SCF  or UCI licence for this race?

A: No, however, priority registration is given to licence holders for selected races. We do insist that you have adequate race insurance. Under the SCF licence / insurance scheme, there is a very good (and affordable licence insurance)

Q: Can I cancel my booking once entered?

A: No, once paid, your entry is confirmed. Cycosports has the right to transfer an entry (bib number) to another rider if the original participant is a "no-show" on the day. There will be no refund for "no shows".

Q: How can I warm up before my race?

A: Please use surrounding roads (non-circuit) and take caution and ensure you are back in time for your start time.

Q: Are Disk Brake Bikes allowed in these Races?

A: Yes.

Q: Do you have medics on hand in case of emergency?

A: Yes we have a full medical team (2 Ambulances) are stationed at the event.

Q: I'd like to help out (volunteer) on the day - is that possible?

A: Absolutely - we always need help running these events. Please drop us a message here.
